Despite an early-spring snowstorm, about 100 youth and students turned out for Hoops Day on Sunday, March 24, sponsored by Thurtene Junior Honorary. It's one of several lead-up events as students prepare for the annual carnival. During the event, organizers offered a basketball clinic for area youth and players competed in a 3-on-3 tournament at the Athletic Complex. Participants paid a small fee to play, and the money raised is being donated to the charity Thurtene has chosen to highlight this year, Provident.
